Make this the year
August was a doozy — across Colorado we saw record high temperatures, multiple wildfires, and drought, each highlighting the reality of a warming climate. The US Fourth National Climate Assessment warns that impacts of climate change are intensifying across the country, threatening our physical, social, and economic well-being. With important local, state, and national elections coming up, will 2020 be the year we decide to take bold action to reverse climate change?
The good news is we already have the solutions we need to start fixing this crisis.
We just need the political will to get it done….and, perhaps, a bit of inspiration. Join us on October 14 to see director Damon Gameau’s film 2040 – a project he calls an “exercise in fact-based dreaming.” Drawing on the best minds from around the world to focus on climate, economics, technology, civil society, agriculture and sustainability, this is a film that shows us what 2040 could look like if we envision a better future for ourselves and our planet. It’s a story of hope, and a powerful tool to encourage people to take action.
How to watch film: it’s FREE but registration is required.
Space is limited, so get your free ticket TODAY! Once registered, you’ll receive a ‘watch link’ from Together Films via email at 5:30pm on Wednesday, October 14th. *Tickets sales end Tuesday, October 13 @4pm.
Join us afterwards: At 8 PM, join HC3 for a short conversation about the film and climate solutions — we’ll email you a separate meeting link to join in the discussion.[/vc_column_text][vc_btn title=”Get Your Free Ticket for the 2040 Virtual Film Screening” color=”vista-blue” link=”url:https%3A%2F%2Fwww.eventbrite.co.uk%2Fe%2Fhigh-country-conservation-centers-screening-of-2040-tickets-118491273589||target:%20_blank|”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_video title=”2040 Trailer” link=”https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=8&v=McttTvr6eTc&feature=emb_logo”][/vc_column][/vc_row]

Town Clean Up Week: May 15-23
The Towns of Blue River, Breckenridge, Dillon, Frisco, and Silverthorne are calling for volunteers to help clean up Summit County before summer. As the snow melts, those windblown and forgotten items from our busy winter season become noticeable, making spring cleaning a necessity. This year’s cleanup will take place May 15-23 to allow for time and space for physical distancing.
Cleanup supplies can be picked up from designated areas in each Town, or personal supplies can be used if preferred. Volunteers are encouraged to pick a favorite area near their home that needs attention rather than receiving an assigned area. Filled trash bags (50lbs or less) should be placed visibly near the side of the road.
Instagram Contest: Community members can post a photo of their Town Clean Up experience on Instagram by May 23 for a chance to win gift cards from local businesses. One photo entry per person. Winners will be notified by each Town after the contest has closed.
Please reach out to your specific town with any questions or concerns.
