Skis

Ski recycling in Summit County is not as easy as you might think. DO NOT LEAVE SKIS AT RECYCLING CENTERS. If skis are left at the Breckenridge or Frisco Recycling Centers, it is considered “illegal dumping” and they will end up in the landfill because there is no official collection bin for them there.

However, you do have some recycling options for your old skis:

  • ReCycle Sports: Skis can be brought to ReCycle Sports for re-sale. They will price the skis with you and once they sell you will get 50% of the sale while ReCycle keeps the other 50%. They will have a year on the shelf to sell. If they don’t sell after a year, they are donated to the Breckenridge Outdoor Education Center (BOEC).
  • Post on Facebook – One Man’s Junk: Many people are often looking for old skis/snowboards for art and other uses in Summit County.
  • Christy Sports & AMR Ski & Board: Each can recycle “great shape pairs” to their rentals on a limited basis, but this is a face-to-face approved exchange between the skier and store.
