Businesses, HOAs, and Property Managers we want your input! Join the conversation on proposed changes to trash and recycling collection in Summit County.
Possible changes include moving toward a utility based model where customers pay for service based on the volume of waste generated. This creates economic incentives to recycle more. Pay-As-You-Throw and Universal Recycling are policy tools communities use to significantly improve recycling rates.
More information on Universal Recycling
If you can’t attend, there will be a short recorded presentation and survey available in the coming weeks to let your voice be heard.

Party for the Planet is HC3’s largest fundraiser of the year. It’s a night to celebrate local conservation while enjoying some of the best brews from local breweries and the Green Scene Awards highlighting local sustainability champions. There will be a buffet dinner, live music from Beau Thomas, and one of the best silent auctions in Summit County. This year, there will be the option to bid on silent auction items online before and during the event.
It’s a fun night to catch up with friends and our community. Funds from the event support local programs in climate action, waste reduction, energy efficiency and water conservation.

Did you know that the average household leak wastes 10,000 gallons of water each year? That’s enough water for 1.5 years of daily showers. Spring is a great time to look for leaks. Try these 3 easy DIY tips:
- Identify toilet leaks: Placing a drop of food coloring in the toilet tank. If any color shows up in the bowl after 10 minutes, you have a leak. (Be sure to flush immediately after the experiment to avoid staining the tank.) Watch the video.
- Look for continuous leaks: If you’re not running water in the house and your meter is moving, you have a continuous leak. Learn how to read your water meter.
- SPEAK UP! In the workplace: Leaks don’t just happen at home. If you see a faucet dripping, a toilet running or broken sprinkler heads, report it to the maintenance staff.
Or, sign up for a free water checkup. HC3 can help you chase down indoor leaks and install water-saving equipment. Be sure to check out Summit County’s Blue River Watershed Water Efficiency Plan for more information on community-wide water conservation efforts.
